Kochi (Cochin)

Known as Queen Sea Arbian , flourishing city of Kochi to play host to the finest Jewish synagogue in India. Before the mass immigration of Jews to Israel (in the early 50s) lived quite comfortably for well over 1,000 years in Kerala. The synagogue in Mattancherry is reminiscent of the Jewish establishment. Built in 1568 AD the synagogue will have rolls of old and a number of copper plates in the certificate inscreidas Hebrew preserved to date. It is the perfect witness to the communal harmony in the state for centuries. The tower pulse firing of the eighteenth century is a view of temptation. You can visit the synagogue, 10 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 5 pm on all days except Saturdays and Jewish holidays.

Getting there: Kochi is north of Trivandrum (218 km) and south of Kozhikode (223 km).

Pune

The small and cozy city of Pune plays host to thousands of Jewish pilgrims. Why? The cause Pune is home to the Ohel David Synagogue. With an unusual sobriquet as Lal Dewil of the Ohel David Synagogue was built by David Sassoon in 1863 in Pune. This framework known Pune is a marvel of aesthetics. Everything about this synagogue is special - the pulse of shot tower, the spire of 90 feet, the bell, the stained glass and the bright interior architecture. David Sassoon rests in peace in a fine tomb in the synagogue.

Getting there: Mumbai is the nearest airport. Pune is a handling time of 2 and-a-half of Mumbai. You get many bars in Mumbai bus, or even crash a train to Pune.

Ahmedabad

In the year 1411, when the Sultan Ahmed Shah built a city on the banks of the Sabarmati river, just knew, 550 years later, its Ahmedabad was known as the Manchester of the East . Right in the heart of Ahmedabad is the Magen Abraham synagogue. The name commemorates the founder of the prayer hall, Dr. Abraham Erulkar. Getting there: Ahmedabad is well connected by air, by road and by rail to all major cities.
