Visit India

India was the mother of our race and Sanskrit the mother of Europe's languages. She was the mother of our philosophy, mother through the Arabs, of much of our mathematics, mother through Buddha, of the ideals embodied in Christianity, mother through village communities of self-government and democracy. Mother India is in many ways the mother of us all.” - Will Durant (American Writer and Historian)

India has got a history of about 5000 years. Indian has got one of the first flourished civilization and it got flourished on the banks of Indus River. This Indus valley civilization was existing concurrently with the period of ancient civilizations of Egypt. Do you know that during this period the four Vedas like rigveda, sama veda, yajur veda and adharva veda which are the important books of Hinduism were compiled during this period. Later on Aryans came to india and that paved the fall for fall of Indus valley civilization. During the past several centuries many people from around the world has visited india for trade, for spirituality, to know more about India and many has invaded Indian soil. India has kept all those who came close to their heart, because Indians believe in 'Adithi Devo Bhava', meaning guest is god.

After decades of struggle, led by Mahatma Gandhi modern India has got its independence from Britain in 1947. Post independence, India has made huge progress in spite of great problems, and has developed its industry and its agriculture, and has maintained a system of government and become the largest democratic country in the world.

Best time to visit India

It is recommended that, the best time to travel to India is during October to March. This is the period winter season in India and the climate is relatively cooler as compared to other part of the year. This season is considered as the tourism season in India and many people from different part of the world visit Indian destinations. During the this time the heat from sun is comparatively low so one can spend time in the beaches or have sigh seeing trip. But avoid going to the beaches during noon, during the heat will be little bit high. Eastern part of India can also be visited around this time there also the climate will be dry. Even the hot South India is blessed with cool weather and one can expect rain on beaches in this high tourism season. The peak season for Indian tourism industry is from December 15th to January 15th. Some hotel consider 15th December to 1st of January as their peak season. Why i have talked about peak season is because during peak season the hotel and resort rates will be comparatively higher.

During these high season months most of the festivals are being celebrated in India. In October - November falls Dussehra, Durga Puja and Diwali. Also in November is Rajasthan's Pushkar. In January is the Republic Day of India and Lohri, which is the festival of punjabis. In the month of March falls Holi, the festival of colors. Then there is Id (celebrated by Muslims), Easter, Christmas and a number of another festivals which are celebrated in Indian style. It will be a great experience for traveler to watch the true India, in all its richness, by attending these festivals.

The months from October to march are the high season for tourism in India. During this high season the cost of hotel and resorts will be slightly high. If you are planning to visit India during summer then the hotels will be comparatively cheaper. Why i have said this i because i know the rate of a hotel, which is about Rs. 7500/night in the month of November and the same room cost only Rs. 1500/night during summer months. The summer months of March to May the climate will be very hot and humid. During sumemr time you might not be able to withstand the heat so you can travel to hill destinations in India and enjoy the scenic beauty. If you are interested in trekking months of March to May, September and November are ideal for trekking in the Himalayaan mountain ranges. One can also visit hill destinations like munnar, ooty, kodaikanal, places in jammu and kashmir, and destination in himachal and uttaranchal like shimla, manali, nainital etc.
